Delaware Association for the Education of Young Children (deaeyc) is a nonprofit 501c3 located in Wilmington serving all three counties in Delaware, New Castle, Kent, and Sussex. deaeyc is an affiliate of the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the leading membership association for those working with and on behalf of children from birth through age eight. Founded in 1969, deaeyc serves and acts on behalf of the needs, rights and well-being of all young children and their families in Delaware. The mission of the Delaware Association for the Education of Young Children (deaeyc) is to promote national standards for early care and education as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC); to promote high-quality early learning for Delaware’s children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. We advance a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and support all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children. deaeyc envisions a world where all young children thrive and learn in a society dedicated to ensuring they reach their full potential. Each individual board member is expected to: Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements. Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission. Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission. Give a meaningful personal financial donation. Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and can influence public policy prepare for, attend, and conscientiously. Participate in quarterly board meetings. Participate fully in one or more committees.
