An Opioid Interdiction Project
Six people died, and others overdosed in
opioid related incidents in Sussex County DE this Labor Day weekend, 2019.
In Delaware in 2018 more than 400 people died of overdoses
52% died within 3 months of visiting an E.R.
The State Office of Volunteerism is looking for volunteers to participate in an
opioid interdiction project in Sussex County. Join forces with likeminded county
residents able to commit 2 hours a week for one year to implement solutions in
prevention, treatment, or recovery, working together to strengthen or create
avenues of hope for those most in need.
Training is free featuring experts in healthcare, law enforcement and community support programs offering a comprehensive understanding of the current crisis, how it is impacting Sussex County and the current services available.
Additionally, volunteers will be coached and provided the tools required to actively engage in addressing specific needs within existing programs or design unique programs to fill gaps in existing services. This Project will have you learning and solving your way to a healthier community. Please join us, share with a friend, or better yet grab a friend and work together on this.
Training takes place over 7- 2hr sessions beginning Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 10:00 am to noon, in Georgetown.
