Organization Profile
To address a need to promote inclusion, sensitivity and awareness for those living with disabilities in Delaware. One out of every five Americans is an individual with a disability. People with disabilities have not always had equal access to opportunities. Many people without disabilities, especially children, are somewhat fearful of their peers who have a disability. Since lack of understanding breeds fear and exclusion, it is our hope that The Kids on the Block Puppet Program will break down the walls of misunderstanding and allow children to ask questions and receive answers that will help them to relate to their peers. Our goal is to bring understanding and awareness to children and adults about the perspective of their peers with a disability. Our intent is that this will help to promote inclusion as well as bring sensitivity and realization that people with disabilities have abilities too.
