Delaware Foster Grandparent Program

Places senior citizens, 60 years or over, with day cares, Head Starts, schools and detention centers to mentor and tutor special/exception needs children. Seniors must be willing to consent to a background check and physical exam, and willing to serve a minimum of 15 hours a week with their assign site/children. In turn, the Foster Grandparent receives a daily meal at the site, transportation reimbursement and on-going training. Those applicants who meet an income criteria may be eligible for a tax-free stipend of $3.45 per hour to help supplement their income, as well as vacation and sick leave.
