Volunteers are needed to drive cancer patients to treatment in Delaware

One of the biggest roadblocks to cancer treatment can be transportation. That's why the American Cancer Society Road To Recovery program provides patients in need with free rides to treatment. Our volunteers have provided hundreds of thousands of rides for patients, but the need for drivers continues to accelerate. Volunteer in your community now (New Castle, Kent and Sussex Counties), and help give patients a much-needed ride. You might be surprised by the pick-me-up you get in return. FLEXIBLE schedule. Volunteer drivers can set their own schedules and choose what distances they are willing to travel. Training takes place online. Requirements include a good driving record, a current driver's license, proof of adequate automobile insurance and access to a safe and reliable vehicle. Must be aged 18 - 84 years old. To volunteer in your community or for more information, visit cancer.org/drive or call the American Cancer Society at 1.800.227.2345.

Volunteers are also needed to help with Road To Recovery driver recruitment, by way of using social media and/or attending local community events.
